LABIAPLASTY
RESTORE CONFIDENCE WITH VAGINAL REJUVENATION TREATMENTS
Cross Medical Group has literally “written the book” on labiaplasty procedures with their featured chapter in the book “Current Cosmetic Surgery.” Labiaplasty with Philadelphia’s Dr. Jackie Lyons at Cross Medical Group is a cosmetic surgical procedure that involves the use of different techniques to shape or reduce the size of the inner labia (labia minora) and outer labia (labia majora) and can be performed for both aesthetic or functional reasons.

WHAT MAKES CROSS MEDICAL GROUP’S TECHNIQUE DIFFERENT
Most labia reduction procedures leave a patient with an incision that is directly on top of the labia. This often causes the labia to lose sensation—or worse, become painful during intimacy. The Cross Medical Group technique puts the incision in a location where it will not have a negative effect on labial sensation.
WHY CONSIDER A LABIAPLASTY
Many factors contribute to changes in the appearance of the labia, including genetics, aging, and childbirth. These changes can cause women to feel self-conscious about the look of the labia in certain types of clothing or during intimate activities, and can also cause discomfort or pain during exercise, when riding a bicycle, or when wiping after urination. At Cross Medical Group, we understand that this can be a sensitive topic, and Dr. Jackie Lyons strives to make you feel comfortable, confident, and at ease during your consultation.
WHAT IS A LABIAPLASTY?
Labiaplasty surgery most commonly involves reduction in the size or length of the labia minora (inner vaginal lips), but it can also involve plumping, revolumizing, or other changes to the outer vaginal lips, the labia majora.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LABIAPLASTY?
Ideal surgical candidates include women whose labia minora are stretched or elongated, causing them to hang lower and extend beyond the labia majora. It is not uncommon for oversized labia to affect a woman’s self-esteem or self-confidence, and the delicate nature of the inner labial tissues can cause this area to become easily irritated in tight clothing or during sexual activity. A labiaplasty can restore confidence and decrease discomfort, but it is important for candidates to be in a good state of physical and emotional health before considering surgery. Also, women whose outer labia are saggy, wrinkled, deflated, or too full are also good candidates for vaginal rejuvenation.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LABIAPLASTY?
The appearance of the labia is unique for each woman. Labiaplasty can reduce excess labial tissue that is causing discomfort or embarrassment, as well as restore a more youthful appearance to the vaginal area. Enlarged, stretched, or excessively noticeable labia can sometimes make it difficult to exercise or cause discomfort related to sexual activity and other physical activity. A labiaplasty can provide relief from these challenges, as well as reduce general discomfort or chafing.
WHAT SHOULD BE EXPECTED DURING AND AFTER LABIAPLASTY AT PHILADELPHIA’S CROSS MEDICAL GROUP?
The surgical techniques used in labiaplasty vary depending on each person’s situation, but all aim to reduce the size of the labia minora or to rejuvenate the appearance of the vaginal region. A labiaplasty may also sometimes involve transferring a small amount of fat to the labia majora if additional fullness is desired.
After the procedure, you will usually experience some soreness and swelling, but any discomfort is generally well tolerated. Most patients are back to their normal daily activities in five to seven days. The full recovery time typically includes the avoidance of certain physical activities, including strenuous exercise and sexual intercourse during the early parts of the healing process.
WHICH OTHER FORMS OF COSMETIC SURGERY ARE AVAILABLE?
The most common cause of excess or sagging labial tissue is pregnancy and childbirth. In addition to labiaplasty, Philadelphia’s Cross Medical Group provides a full range of cosmetic surgery procedures for body contouring. Many patients choose to undergo a Mommy Makeover in addition to their labiaplasty. A Mommy Makeover involves a combination of procedures typically focused on the breasts and abdomen to restore the body’s pre-pregnancy proportions and curves. Other options include liposuction, breast augmentation, and breast reduction.
