Dermal Fillers
Customized Injectable Treatments at Cross Medical Group
Dermal fillers at the Philadelphia area's Cross Medical Group are ideal for a wide range of people, because everyone develops signs of aging as they get older, but not everyone develops signs of aging in the same way. Some people see lines and creases form on the face, while others watch as their cheeks gradually deflate. It's possible for one person to have multiple minimal age-related changes all over the face, and another to have more significant effects in a particular area.
The visible effects of aging depend on genetics, sun exposure, other environmental factors, and more. All of these variables impact levels of collagen and hyaluronic acid, which are two key components of a smooth, plump, and youthful look. Fewer of these molecules in the skin means more wrinkles and sagging. The team of nurse injectors at Cross Medical Group takes each individual's facial structure, aging, and cosmetic goals into consideration when developing a treatment plan, drawing on their extensive training and experience when choosing the best dermal filler based on these factors.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Put most simply, dermal fillers are non-surgical treatments that use a gel or similar material to "fill in" areas where volume loss has caused contour or texture changes to develop. Many dermal fillers—such as all of the options in the Juvederm® and Restylane® lines—contain hyaluronic acid, while others use different formulas to encourage cells to create new collagen in the skin.
With all dermal fillers, the goal is the same: to restore a youthful look in the treatment area by adding volume.
Belotero Balance®
Belotero Balance® replenishes hyaluronic acid in the skin where injected, adding volume and restoring moisture to smooth out moderate to severe wrinkles that are etched around the mouth and extend vertically from the lips (known as lip lines). The smooth and flexible gel fills the areas beneath facial lines while still allowing for typical muscle movement when it comes to making expressions. Results can last six months or longer.
Radiesse®
Radiesse® is a watery gel filled with incredibly tiny beads of calcium hydroxylapatite. The carrier provides visible volume once injected, while the microspheres begin stimulating collagen production in the skin. As the microspheres gradually dissolve, they are replaced by natural collagen, which provides an ongoing fullness in the treatment area. This dermal filler, used primarily for volume improvement, can also smoothen out age-related lines on the lower face—such as smile lines, marionette lines, pre-jowl folds, and chin wrinkles—as well as address downturned corners of the mouth and create more youthful-looking hands.

Sculptra® Aesthetic
This dermal filler is another collagen stimulator. The active ingredient in Sculptra® Aesthetic is poly-L-lactic acid, which prompts cells to gradually replace collagen lost to time, ultraviolet radiation, and other damage. The initial volume, as well as the resulting new collagen, is ideal for adding volume where the face requires broader improvement as opposed to targeted correction. The smoother look can last for more than two years.
What Is the Dermal Fillers Injection Process Like?
The team of nurse injectors at Cross Medical Group have been chosen specifically for their skill, knowledge, experience, and talent. Each treatment session is tailored to the patient, with filler-specific details in mind to make the visit as safe and comfortable as possible, while providing beautiful and natural results.
While a long-term view is key when administering any aesthetic treatment, it is especially important when injecting collagen-stimulating dermal fillers, since the results are gradual. At an initial consultation, patients are encouraged to ask any questions they have about what to expect during, just after, and long after a session.
The injections are administered in a matter of minutes in Cross Medical Group's Philadelphia and Villanova offices. Results are visible right away—with the ideal appearance revealed after initial swelling, bruising, and other expected minimal side effects resolve.
What Other Injectables Are Available?
In addition to dermal fillers, Cross Medical Group offers the neuromodulators BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®, which relax the facial muscles that repetitively pull the skin into lines and folds. When paired with dermal fillers, these treatments can address wrinkles not corrected by hyaluronic acid-based gels or collagen stimulators.
Another available injectable is Kybella®, which uses deoxycholic acid to prompt the dissolution of fat cells that cause submental fullness—better known as a double chin.
