BBL® HEROIC OVERVIEW: WHAT SETS BROADBAND LIGHT® (BBL®) TECHNOLOGY APART

BBL®

BroadBand Light (BBL®) photorejuvenation treatments use multiple, strong wavelengths of light that are absorbed by pigmented lesions and visible vessels in the skin. This gentle, non-invasive technology, which was developed as a highly versatile and comprehensive light system, minimizes the appearance of skin conditions such as freckles, age spots, brown spots, broken capillaries, and melasma. BroadBand Light also stimulates the production of collagen. BBL® is effective for reducing a variety of skin concerns. The light gently heats the surface of the skin. This treatment brightens up the complexion and stimulates the production of collagen, a protein that provides structure and strength to the skin. BroadBand Light also promotes the body's self-healing ability to help regrow new, healthier skin.

BBL® HERO

BBL HERO® (High Energy Rapid Output) is the next generation BroadBand Light treatment after traditional BBL®. It improves the quality of the skin anywhere on the body by reducing pigment, redness, visible signs of aging, sun damage, and other concerns. While a typical BroadBand Light treatment is quite effective, BBL HERO® is an advancement on the technology that makes treatment sessions faster and more efficient with increased versatility. The flashes of light are more rapid, which results in a more powerful treatment that allows the aesthetician to target any area, including larger or multiple areas, without dramatically increasing the time of a session.

Despite the step up in intensity, patients can still expect comfort. The BBL HERO® device is specially designed to glide over the surface of the skin with the help of a friction-reducing gel, as opposed to being manually and repeatedly repositioned in overlapping sections. It also employs an enhanced cooling system. While temperatures in the targeted lesions are high enough to properly treat the pigmented cells, the surface temperature stays much cooler.

BBL HERO® is ideal for patients with light to medium skin tones, though it does also include a wavelength option for darker skin tones. It can treat almost any area on the body, but is typically used to target the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.

BBL® HEROIC

Building on the success of BBL HERO®, BBL® HEROic (HERO with Intelligent Control) is the newest, most advanced version of BBL® that offers all the same benefits along with groundbreaking new features. Featuring proprietary Intelligent Control (IC) and Skin Positioning System (SPS) technology, BBL® HEROic™ can treat large areas such as the back, arms, and legs, in minutes. Light treatments with BBL® HEROic enhance your skin tone and texture, improving an extensive range of skin concerns including active acne, signs of aging, sun and age spots, freckles, cherry angiomas, rosacea, vascular lesions, dull complexion, skin laxity, unwanted hair, and more, with exceptional results.

BBL® HEROic treatment provides vibrant, youthful-looking, and healthy skin. This comfortable, gentle treatment is fast, safe for most skin types, and has little to no downtime. Much like BBL HERO®, patients can expect to see improvements in as little as one treatment session with BBL® HEROic.

BBL® HEROic technology makes BroadBand Light treatments faster, more efficient, and comfortable than ever. Its advanced automated intelligence helps to provide consistent, reliable, and exceptional outcomes for patients.

CANDIDATES FOR BBL®, BBL® HERO, AND BBL® HEROIC

BBL® HEROic is an advanced BroadBand Light treatment designed for individuals who want to address visible signs of aging, sun damage, and uneven skin tone without surgery or extended downtime. Like the original BBL® and BBL HERO®, BBL® HEROic™ is ideal for patients seeking a non-invasive, customizable solution to improve skin clarity, texture, and overall radiance.

BBL® HEROic is especially suited for those with mild to moderate skin concerns—including redness, brown spots, acne, fine lines, and dullness—who want consistent results and a comfortable treatment experience. It can be used on multiple areas of the body and adjusted to suit a range of skin types. Compared to previous versions, BBL® HEROic offers enhanced energy delivery, greater treatment speed, and improved precision.

Whether you're interested in the original BBL®, the faster BBL HERO®, or the most advanced BBL® HEROic, a consultation at Cross Medical Group will help determine the right approach based on your skin type, goals, and long-term care plan.

BROADBAND LIGHT THERAPY BEFORE AND AFTER DETAILS

Proper preparation is essential to ensure the safest, most effective results from BBL®, BBL HERO®, and BBL® HEROic treatments. At Cross Medical Group, we provide each patient with detailed pre- treatment guidelines tailored to their skin type and selected BroadBand Light modality.

Before undergoing any BBL® session, patients should avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least two weeks. This helps minimize the risk of pigmentation changes and ensures optimal light absorption during treatment. Discontinuing the use of retinoids, exfoliating agents, and certain skin-sensitizing products several days in advance is also recommended.

For BBL® HEROic specifically, the advanced energy delivery system makes proper skin condition even more important for consistency and comfort. Clean, makeup-free skin on the day of treatment is required, and our team may provide specific instructions based on whether you’re receiving BBL®, BBL HERO®, or BBL® HEROic for facial rejuvenation or larger body areas.

Following these preparation steps helps ensure smoother sessions, more even results, and a lower risk of irritation. During your consultation, our team will walk you through the entire preparation process for your selected BBL® treatment.

One of the key advantages of BBL® HEROic—and earlier BBL® technologies—is their ability to deliver noticeable skin rejuvenation without disrupting your daily routine. Unlike treatments that rely on medications or harsh topical products, BBL® photorejuvenation fits seamlessly into an active lifestyle, offering effective results with minimal side effects.

Recovery from BroadBand Light treatments like BBL® HEROic is typically mild and far less intensive than traditional laser resurfacing. Following a BBL®, BBL HERO®, or BBL® HEROic session, some patients may experience temporary redness or warmth, similar to a mild sunburn. Most begin to see visible BroadBand Light therapy results within days, with continued enhancements unfolding over the weeks ahead and with each subsequent session.

Traditional BBL®, BBL HERO®, and BBL® HEROic involve virtually no downtime, allowing patients to return to normal activities right away. To ensure optimal results and protect your skin, it's essential to follow all post-treatment instructions—especially minimizing sun exposure and applying a high-quality sunscreen daily.

BBL® HEROIC VS. LASER SKIN RESURFACING: CHOOSING THE BEST FIT FOR YOUR SKIN

BBL® HEROic and laser skin resurfacing both harness light-based energy to revitalize the skin, but they differ significantly in intensity, precision, and recovery. Laser resurfacing uses a single, concentrated wavelength to target specific skin concerns and often yields more dramatic results in fewer sessions—though with extended downtime. BBL® HEROic, on the other hand, delivers multiple wavelengths of broad-spectrum pulsed light, making it ideal for treating larger surface areas more quickly. This broader approach allows BBL® HEROic to improve multiple concerns in a single session, offering a gentler alternative with minimal recovery.

COMPARING BBL® HEROIC AND MOXI: DIFFERENT TOOLS FOR TARGETED SKIN RENEWAL

BBL® HEROic and Moxi are both non-invasive treatments designed to improve skin tone, texture, and clarity, but they differ in how they target specific concerns and the technology they use. At Cross Medical Group, we often help patients choose between these modalities—or combine them—depending on their goals and skin condition.

BBL® HEROic uses BroadBand Light to address pigmentation, redness, sun damage, and early signs of aging by delivering intense pulsed light energy across multiple wavelengths. It’s ideal for patients seeking fast, visible results with little to no downtime and is often recommended for overall rejuvenation and maintenance of youthful skin.

Moxi, by contrast, is a gentle, fractionated non-ablative laser treatment designed to address early signs of aging, uneven tone, and texture concerns with minimal recovery. It’s an excellent option for younger patients looking for “prejuvenation” or for those who prefer a softer entry point into laser skin treatments.

While BBL® HEROic focuses more on pigmentation and superficial vascular issues, Moxi is better suited for refining texture and stimulating collagen. For some patients, a combination of both treatments may be recommended to achieve comprehensive skin renewal.

SKIN REJUVENATION SOLUTIONS THAT COMPLEMENT BBL®, BBL HERO®, AND BBL® HEROIC

Cross Medical Group offers a comprehensive selection of non-surgical treatments tailored to your skin’s specific needs. Options include chemical peels and dermaplaning for effective exfoliation, laser rejuvenation with Halo and Moxi technologies, and Ultherapy® for non-invasive skin lifting and tightening. Each approach is designed to address different concerns—from surface-level dullness to deeper structural laxity. During your consultation, our team will assess your skin type, goals, and lifestyle to determine whether BBL®, BBL HERO®, BBL® HEROic, or another skin rejuvenation treatment is the most suitable fit.
