Facelift - Case 23
Surgeon : Kevin Cross
Details
This patient is young but has developed some early age-related changes around her chin, jawline, and neck. These resulted, in part, from underdevelopment of her jaw structure despite surgery when she was younger. To give her lower face more shape and structure, Dr. Cross performed a chin augmentation in addition to an extended deep plane jowl and neck lift with structural fat grafting. These maneuvers helped to define her lateral jawline. Crucial to her improvement was the correction of the bulges that she had under her jawline. These bulges were large and sagging salivary glands known as submandibular glands. By reducing their size and tucking them back up where they belong, her neck now has a more youthful contour. Had we ignored those bulges, as often occurs in neck lifting, her results would have been less than optimal. It was worth the extra effort for years of added improvement.
